Vantage Point

"I... Hate.... Everything about you..." The music wasn't blaring from the radio, really. It was loud, but we could still hear each other over it. The car was moving quickly, but we were young and we could keep up.

It was hot and humid outside. Inside that car though, it was cold. We were unaffected by the weather or anything else. I grabbed another Cookie Dough Bite and popped it into my mouth.

Our exit was coming up. I put the blinker on, and checked my mirrors.

She turned to check her blind spot. I laughed at something someone said. It was funny, I'm sure...

The car began to move into the right lane. I saw a car so close I could touch it.

We were too close to that car.

Panic rushed at me, taking my body as a temporary prisoner of those brush-with-death experiences. We felt our bodies object as the car lurched back to the left.

My life didn't flash before my eyes. Isn't that supposed to happen?

The car was back in the left lane. I wasn't breathing.

I was alive.

"I... Hate... Ever-"

I turned off the radio.

yeah...that was kinda freaky wasn't it? for those of you who don't know, this was an actual experience of cb's and mine (and another friend, too)...i was the one who didn't see my life flash before my eyes...just some other guy's sideview mirror...it was still kind of a sobering experience for all of us, though...
