In that quiet hour
When all lights have dimmed
She sits down by her window
And stares at the night sky
Trying to lose herself
And maybe find something more
A rhythm of her own amongst
The slow cadence of dancing twilight
Her favorite time of day
Where she can simply be
She can listen to the silence
Not at all awkward or deafening
But peaceful and warm
Here she can heal
Here she feels safe
Sometimes she cries
She weeps for herself
Scars that won't fade
She weeps for the world
Bleeding and torn
She weeps for you
And all the tears you shed
That she can never dry
Sometimes she laughs
Softly, to herself
She laughs at old memories
She laughs because the world
Can be so fucked up
She laughs at herself
She laughs so she won't
Have to sigh instead
Sometimes she wonders
She wonders what will happen
Why things do happen
She wonders whether others
Ever wonder like she does
Wonders if you ever wonder
About her
Sometimes she closes her eyes
Because she knows she's not good enough
For the radiance of the sky
Because she's trying to find
Peace away from the peace
Because she's trying to hear
What she's whispering
To herself
Sometimes she's angry
So angry she wants to scream
Angry that she can't tell anyone
That she's angry
Or why
Angry at herself
For being angry
But always
Not sometimes, but always
She always finds a little more
Of herself
Sitting down by her window
In the quiet stillness
Where she can simply
Be

Wow, Beast. This is definitely a keeper. I recently took everything off of my walls in hopes of a more organized room. Screw that, this is going up. I totally love how you keep the same structure in every stanza, and how you show growth in such a short space. I know how you feel here... Damn. I can say that here, yeah? Well, anyway, that's it. A breathless, stunned damn.
Sometimes simply "being" is the most you can do...and it often is the best thing to do...no trying to change the world, to alter the problems...just going with the flow, just existing as yourself and that's all. Dunno if I read this right, but that's what I get out of it. Very nice.
